walk by faith

walk by faith

2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight
.

There's one thing I've learned about God and it's that He wants to see our faith.  We show our faith by believing even when it seems illogical to do so.  Faith is a verb, and we prove this by acting on what God's Word says, not by our circumstances or situations.  The Old Testament is full of examples of faith and God's character during times of testing.  Here's a sample.

Take, for example, Joshua 3:7-17.

Talk about taking a step of faith! When the time came for the Israelites to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land, the river was at flood stage. Have you ever seen a river at flood stage? It's a frightening sight. Picturesque water than normally meanders along become surging currents, several times wider and deeper and faster than normal. They wash away anything in its path and carry it along.

The Lord commanded the priests to step into the water, and the water did not part until their feet got wet. God could have parted the river first and then let the priests pass, but He was testing their faith to see if they would obey His command even in the midst of troubled waters. It seemed illogical and and frightening to do so. But they believed in the Lords steadfast word.

As their feet sunk into the water, the river parted and God cleared their path to the other side.

Obey the Lord even when it seems illogical. When He calls us, He will make a way.
Where He leads us, He will go before us. That's why we walk by faith and not by sight.
